Join in with family and friends in a cooperative effort in keeping one or more Stix
moving in the air between a group of two or more people.
Like foot bag, the idea is to keep the Stix off the ground setting one another up through controlled passes. The easiest pattern for serving and passing is the horizontal spin which creates a pulse between two people separating the catches and throws, giving each the extra time to be ready for the next toss.
To start, try balancing the main baton on your controller (hand stick). When you play the game, you simply take turns balancing the baton. To play, use one controller each when passing the balanced Stix back and forth.
Game posture is slightly different than regular Stix. Instead, lead with your strong foot forward like a posture for fencing. Now, shift your weight on to the back foot to catch the baton and lean forward bending your knee and lift the Stix to your game partner so that it's easy for him or her to catch it and toss it back. This is called "Volley Stix".

The Ultimate Stix game (Ultimate is a juggling term meaning you always throw to someone else.) allows for a natural rhythm to take place with the exchanges becoming quicker. Then there is room to throw in a second or third baton between two people, actually juggling the batons on the hand stick. You create a pulsing rhythm between players, eliminating anticipation. Playing Stix with others improves kinetic energy as well as physical condition.
The social aspect of Stix games promotes cooperative learning and teaching of balance, rhythm, and sharing. It is a fantastic way to meet new friends. So invent some of your own games, and improve your Stix skills while you're at it.
